About PC´s audit and inventory

  • Do I need a server to inventory my network?   No, you do not. If you do not have a local server, you can resort to ProactivaNET® Inventory ASP modality (on demand). Only those customers who are looking for local ProactivaNET® installation need to have their own server. Even though, because of its low resources consumption, it is not neccesary to devote the whole machine to the application.
  • How long does it take to get a network inventory?
    It depends on network complexity. If you have a conventional network, with the PCs within a domain, network inventory will be ready just after the first log-in once ProactivaNET  Inventory has been installed. That is, within a couple of hours from the deployment most of your assets can be audited, and the next day all your assets will be probably audited.
  • How often is the inventory updated?
    The inventory is updated each time someone log-in one of the PCs (usually, once or twice a day), though, if it were neccesary it would be able to inventory more often or even trough other means.
  • We have offices in different places; can we get all the data in a sole inventory?
    Yes, you can. ProactivaNET Inventory is design in a module way in order to adapt to most complex scenarios (networks connected to different groups and domains, disconnected machines, intermittent connections through VPN, etc.) It is just for geographically distributes networks where a 100 % web tool as ProactivaNET® makes the difference due to its light and flexible deployment.
  • How much network data transfer does it generate?
    A machine inventory consumes less than 15 KB. The auditor agent takes up a bit more than 200 KB. This is all which is transmitted through the network when a machine inventory is generated. Lightness and the minimun traffic generated are just the main characteristics which differences ProactivaNET®

About software distribution

  • What kind of software may I distribute?
    You can distribute any kind of software which has an installer, either in exe or msi format, for instance, Microsoft security updates. You can also use it to call any command lines, which allows running scripts, bat files, etc.
  • May I change PCs log-in passwords?
    Yes, you may. You can prepare a reg file containing changes to be done and use software distribution to apply them.
  • What privileges should I have to supply? Is it safe?
    You can determine administrator credentials to carry out those installations which need them, even though the local user does not have them. When needed, credentials (user and password) transfer is encoded, to avoid any security risk.
  • May I supply just to a concrete group of PCs within my assets?
    ProactivaNET Inventory allows determining, following different criteria, what concrete PCs are going to get the software supply, for instance, the ones which have certain operating systems, or those belonging to a specified list of machines.

About Service Desk and Incidences Management

  • Is it neccesary to implement ITIL or ISO 20.000 as management system for IT services in order to use ProactivaNET® Service Desk?
    No, it is not neccesary. ProactivaNET® Service Desk gives support to the main ITIL process, as incidence management. If the company decides to implement ITIL or ISO 20.000 as reference model is essential to have a tool of this kind. Nevertheless, any company can use ProactivaNET®  and add just those management practices according to company´s mature level.
  • May I organize my support department in different groups?
    Yes, you may. Even more, it is advisable to organize support in first and second lines groups to solve different kinds of incidences (for instance, "second line for software" and "second line for hardware"). This will allow more efficiency and easier use of ProactivaNET Service Desk by technicians and bigger control of the operation, as automatic calculation of the incidence cost.
  • Can users generate incidences?
    ProactivaNET Service Desk configuration can be totelly modified in this sense. You can allow users to generate incidences directly or make them contact first line technician, who will generate the incidence. It is also possible to generate incidences automatically by reading the e-mails received by a determined account.
  • Our company is already using another application for incidence management; Can it have any advantage to install ProactivaNET® Service Desk for incidence management?
    Yes, it can. Because it automatically integrates with each machine audit, so it saves a lot of time in diagnostics. Because it allows remote solutions deployment. Because it is able to manage different support lines. Because it allows to systematize solutions through the creation of a Knowledge Base. Because it manages incidences communication and decreases the number of calls to the support service. Definitely, because in a few months you will have paid off for the installation cost and because service support improvement is obvious.
